Biden continues to assert that Xi is a ‘dictator’

U.S. President Joe Biden and Chinese President Xi Jinping met during the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Leaders’ week, and Biden again referred to Xi as a dictator. This statement has the potential to undo the progress made between the two nations.

In response to a question about his previous comment from June labeling Xi as a dictator, Biden stood by his statement and said, “Well, look, he is.” He explained that Xi runs a communist country with a form of government that is different from the United States.

The meeting between the two leaders comes a year after their first meeting and could have significant implications for the relationship between China and the U.S. This statement by Biden may have broader diplomatic consequences and impact trade and other bilateral agreements between the two countries.

The President’s remarks were made during a news conference following the meeting with Xi at the Filoli Estate in Woodside, California. The two leaders previously met at the Indonesian island resort of Bali in November 2022.

The ongoing tension between the U.S. and China has also raised concerns about the impact on global economic stability and geopolitical relations. The world will be watching closely to see how this latest exchange between the two leaders will play out.
