NFL quarterback Tommy DeVito remains living with his parents

New York Giants Rookie Tommy DeVito Chooses to Live at Home with Parents

Despite the wealth and celebrity that comes with being a National Football League player, New York Giants quarterback Tommy DeVito has opted to live with his parents.

“I don’t have to worry about laundry, what I’m eating for dinner, chicken cutlets, and all that is waiting for me when I get there,” DeVito stated in a recent interview with ESPN. “My mom still makes my bed. Everything is handled for me.”

For DeVito, living with his parents is practical, given that their home is conveniently located close to MetLife Stadium, where the Giants play. This proximity makes his commute to the stadium just a 12-minute drive.

As a rookie quarterback, DeVito has stepped into the starting quarterback role for the Giants following the injuries of the team’s original quarterback, Daniel Jones, and backup quarterback, Tyrod Taylor. As he prepares for a second career start against the Washington Commanders, DeVito credits his family’s support for allowing him to focus solely on his football responsibilities.

Despite his status as a rookie quarterback, DeVito is under a three-year contract with potential earnings up to $2,705,000, with the caveat that the remainder of his contract is not guaranteed. He currently earns roughly $44,000 per game as a member of the Giants’ roster.

Financial experts believe that DeVito’s decision to live at home is a smart financial move, given the uncertain nature of careers in the NFL. He is not the only rookie quarterback making cost-saving choices, as San Francisco 49ers starting quarterback Brock Purdy shares a home with a teammate to reduce expenses.

For Devito and Purdy, both recognize the importance of managing their finances wisely, especially considering the relatively short career span for NFL players. As they navigate their newfound responsibilities, these players are making thoughtful choices to secure their long-term financial stability.
