Mountain villages in Pakistan face danger as glaciers melt.

Northern Pakistani villages are at risk due to melting glaciers, causing unstable lakes and potentially deadly floods. Tariq Jamil, a resident of the Hunza Valley, is working to mobilize his community to prepare for future floods. Glacial Lake Outburst Flood (GLOF) II is supporting affected communities, such as Hassanabad, and researchers predict continued risk. GLOF II’s funding is set to end in 2025 and countries like Pakistan continue to seek help to adapt to the ever-present dangers of glacial lakes, which have serious implications for high-risk regions worldwide. We need help to move or protect ourselves from the inevitable natural disasters.
