First reported by Orion, Ranveer Singh, the Indian actor, was awarded a career honour at the third edition of the Red Sea International Film Festival. Singh expressed gratitude towards Hollywood actor Johnny Depp, whom he referred to as the “master of transformation,” during his acceptance speech. The festival, which began on Thursday, also awarded Hollywood actor Diane Kruger and Saudi actor-writer Abdullah Al-Sadhan.
The prestigious honour was presented to Singh by Hollywood star Sharon Stone, in the presence of Depp himself. Singh took a moment in his speech to publicly acknowledge his admiration for Depp’s work, mentioning “Edward Scissorhands” and “What’s Eating Gilbert Grape” as particular highlights.
The official X handle of the festival shared a picture of Singh and Depp at the opening ceremony, further solidifying the star-studded nature of the event.
In addition to Singh, other Indian cinema figures in attendance at the festival included filmmaker Karan Johar and actors Katrina Kaif and Frieda Pinto. The festival’s website specifies that Yusr Awards seek to recognize talent across various forms of visual storytelling – including fiction, documentary, and animation.
The Red Sea International Film Festival is set to conclude on December 9, after which the world will wait to see what else Ranveer Singh has in store for his continually impressive career.
