In the crime drama film “Animal,” Bobby Deol delivers a chilling performance as antagonist Abrar Haque. The Sandeep Reddy Vanga-directed movie has taken the box office by storm, raking in an impressive Rs 236 crore in just two days.

Deol, who shot to the spotlight after the film’s teaser release in September, embraced the character of Abrar Haque with an unapologetic approach. In an interview with PTI, Deol revealed that he delved deeply into the dark psyche of his character and left moral judgments aside.

The actor explained that he was drawn to the complexity of his character, pointing out that every human being carries both good and evil within them. This dual nature, coupled with a traumatic past, fuels Abrar’s relentless pursuit of revenge, rendering him an almost animalistic figure.

While “Animal” has received mixed reactions from critics and audiences for its portrayal of toxic masculinity and violence, Deol believes that such narratives resonate with certain segments of society.

Despite the limited screen time of his character, Deol expressed satisfaction with his involvement in the film. He noted that the substance and depth of Abrar’s role outweighed its length, and he was grateful for the opportunity to portray this complex character.

Following the overwhelming response to his character in “Animal,” Deol hinted at the potential for a spin-off centered around Abrar. This eagerness from fans has encouraged the actor, who has previously portrayed negative characters in the series “Aashram” and the film “Love Hostel.”

The success of “Animal” also adds to a triumphant year for the Deol family, with Bobby’s brother Sunny Deol starring in “Gadar 2” and their father, Dharmendra, appearing in “Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani.”

According to Bobby Deol, his family is proud of the collective success they have achieved in 2023, making it an extraordinary time for them.
