Calcutta High Court Demands Virtual Presence of CBI Director in Cash-for-Jobs Case
The Calcutta High Court, currently overseeing the cash-for-jobs case, issued an order on Wednesday summoning the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) Director, Praveen Sood, to attend the court proceedings virtually on October 4th.
Justice Abhijit Gangopadhyay expressed dissatisfaction with the slow progress of the CBI’s investigation into the teacher recruitment scam. After reviewing the case diary presented by the CBI, the judge concluded that there appears to be a lack of genuine commitment to uncover any irregularities. The investigation seemed to be conducted casually and not taken seriously by the CBI, despite the arrest of several individuals allegedly involved in the scam.
As a result, the CBI Director has been instructed to virtually appear in court on October 4th to demonstrate the agency’s accountability and dedication to the case.
