Chivalry in the digital era: a paradox of existence and extinction

GenZ Daters Redefining Chivalry in Online Dating, Study Finds

In a study conducted by dating app QuackQuack, it was revealed that GenZ daters are reshaping chivalry as acts of respect and consideration, rather than just traditional male-centric gestures. The survey, which sampled 15,000 online daters aged 18-30 from metropolitan and small cities and suburbs, found that 45% of GenZ daters now view acts of respect and consideration as chivalrous.

The study also showed that 43% of GenZ daters believe traditional gender roles in online dating are evolving, as opposed to only 21% of millennials. This shift in dating dynamics has led to women making the first move more frequently, with 23% of men under 28 reporting being approached by women.

Ravi Mittal, founder and CEO of QuackQuack, commented on the findings, stating, “We have seen a remarkable change in the gender dynamics, with women confidently taking the initiative and men embracing vulnerability, expressing emotions more openly than the preceding generation of daters.”

The study also revealed that rejection is no longer solely within the domain of women, as 21% of GenZ daters between 20 and 26 said men can also reject potential partners. In addition, 18% of women reported being rejected for conflicting values or perspectives.

Furthermore, the study highlighted that 47% of GenZ daters from Tier 1 and 2 cities are embracing emotional openness and vulnerability, challenging the notion that expressing feelings is a sign of weakness. This shift allows individuals to be authentic and transparent without fear of judgement.

This study reflects the changing landscape of online dating, with GenZ daters embracing equality, respect, and consideration as the new standards of chivalry.
