Gonda district in UP achieves record-breaking ‘Kanya Pujan’ with participation of 11,880 girls

Uttar Pradesh Sets Record with Largest Kanya Pujan Ceremony in Gonda District

Gonda District, Uttar Pradesh – In a remarkable achievement, Uttar Pradesh hosted the largest Kanya Pujan ceremony in the country, setting a new record. The event, held under the Chief Minister’s Mission Shakti Abhiyan, saw the participation of 11,880 young girls from different sections of the district.

The grand ‘Shakti Vandan’ ceremony took place at the Shaheed Azam Bhagat Singh College campus, organized by the district administration. As part of the ceremony, the Mission Shakti Cafe and Mission Shakti Wall were inaugurated, symbolizing women’s self-reliance and motherly power.

The event also honored nine women from the district for their remarkable contributions in various fields with the Navdevi Award. One of the remarkable aspects of the program was its focus on being a zero-waste event.

During the entire event, approximately 138 kg of wet waste and 70 kg of dry waste were generated, but the organizers ensured its proper disposal. A compost pit was created for the wet waste, with the aim of converting it into fertilizer.

Sanjay Mishra, the Executive Officer, mentioned that the dry waste was segregated into four parts – glass, plastic bottles, paper waste, and polythene – and sent to the appropriate waste units.

Alongside the worship of the girls, sanitation kits and nutrition bundles were distributed to them. The district administration also paid tribute to women who have brought fame to India through the Mission Shakti Wall, dedicated to accomplished women in various fields.

Furthermore, nine “Matri Shaktis” from the district were honored for their exceptional work during the Shakti Vandan ceremony. The program aimed to organize the Kanya Puja for 11,000 girls, but thanks to the efforts of the district administration, a total of 11,888 girls were worshipped, exceeding the target.
