Israel is prepared to respond to any threats and will continue to take action on the northern border, according to Rear Adm. Daniel Hagari, the spokesman for the Israel Defence Forces (IDF). As Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah prepares to give a speech, Hagari’s statement emphasizes Israel’s readiness to defend itself.
In a recent development, Hagari revised the number of Israeli hostages being held by the Hamas terror group. The revised count stands at 241 hostages, down from the previous count of 242. Hagari explained that ongoing military investigations in the region may further revise this number. It is worth noting that the count does not include four released hostages and an Israeli soldier who was rescued by the IDF.
Tragically, the IDF announced the death of Staff Sgt. Itay Saadon, a tank commander from the 401st Armoured Brigade’s 52nd Battalion. Saadon was killed in fighting in the northern Gaza Strip, bringing the total IDF death toll since the beginning of the ground operation to 24.
In pursuit of its military objectives, the IDF also uncovered and destroyed a tunnel, sharing video footage of the operation. Additionally, the IDF reported the elimination of a Hamas battalion commander during overnight operations. This commander, directed by Mustafa Dalul, held key positions in the Hamas Gaza city brigade.
Further reports suggest that Hamas has been stealing fuel from Gaza civilians, storing it under Shifa Hospital, and using it for malicious purposes. These claims are supported by an audio recording sourced from the Gaza healthcare system.
The IDF’s efforts to neutralize Hamas tunnels have involved troops from the elite Yahalom combat engineering unit, as well as infantry forces from the Nahal and Negev brigades. Tank units have also participated in locating tunnel entrances in northern Gaza.
