Passenger Causes Panic on IndiGo Flight by Attempting to Open Emergency Door
Delhi-Chennai IndiGo flight 6e 6341 faced a harrowing incident when a passenger allegedly tried to open the emergency door of the aircraft while it was in air. The incident caused panic among the crew and passengers onboard.
In a letter addressed to the CISF assistant commandant, IndiGo stated, “Upon arrival at Bay no 52, the crew noticed that one passenger had attempted to open the emergency exit door.” The airline immediately reported the incident and urged CISF to take custody of the passenger and transfer him to the airport police station.
This alarming incident is not isolated, as similar cases have occurred in the past. In July, a 29-year-old man from Andhra Pradesh was booked at Bangalore International Airport for allegedly attempting to open the rear-left emergency door of an Air France 194 aircraft mid-air. Authorities determined that the passenger, identified as Venkat Mohith Achari, had a mental condition.
Another incident took place in April, involving a 40-year-old passenger on a Delhi-Bengaluru IndiGo Airlines flight. The passenger, who was intoxicated, attempted to open the emergency exit during the flight. The airline promptly reprimanded the individual and handed them over to the CISF upon arrival in Bengaluru.
IndiGo reassured the public in a statement saying, “The crew followed the Standard Operating Procedure and declared the unruly passenger. The local authorities were immediately informed and took charge of the situation. The safety of the flight was not compromised, and we apologize for any inconvenience caused to other passengers.”
