Parag Desai, Executive Director of Wagh Bakri Tea Group, passes away due to brain injuries caused by a fall.

Wagh Bakri Tea Group executive director, Parag Desai, tragically passed away at a hospital in Gujarat due to severe brain injuries sustained during a fall while trying to escape from stray dogs during an evening walk. The 50-year-old Desai suffered a brain haemorrhage after falling on a hard surface outside his residence on October 15.

According to a company official close to the Desai family, he fell and suffered a brain haemorrhage, subsequently fainting. He was immediately taken to a private hospital and later transferred for brain surgery. Despite being kept under observation, Desai’s condition worsened, and he passed away at around 7 pm on Sunday.

Further information from an official revealed that Desai fell while attempting to evade stray dogs during his evening walk. Desai served as one of the two executive directors on the board of Wagh Bakri Tea Group, alongside Paras Desai.

Parag Desai, the son of Managing Director Rasesh Desai, held an MBA from Long Island University in the USA. Within the tea group, he spearheaded sales, marketing, and export departments, showcasing his expertise as a tea tester and evaluator.

Wagh Bakri Tea Group, founded by Narandas Desai in 1892, is a prominent packaged tea company in India. With a turnover of over Rs 2,000 crore and distribution of more than 50 million kgs, the group is renowned for its premium tea products.

The tragic news of Parag Desai’s passing has been met with sadness and condolences. Congress’ Rajya Sabha member, Shaktisinh Gohil, expressed his sympathies on X, stating, “Very sad news coming in. Parag Desai, Director and owner of Wagh Bakri Tea passed away. He had a brain haemorrhage following a fall. May his soul rest in peace. My condolences to the entire Wagh Bakri family across India.”
