Punjab Police Launch Statewide Crackdown on Associates of Goldy Brar, a Person of Interest for Indian Forces in Canada

Dreaded Goldy Brar, the main accused in the killing of singer Sidhu Moose Wala, is now in the spotlight of security agencies, following the recent reward offered for Canada-based Khalistani terrorist Lakhbir Singh Sandhu, also known as Landa.

The Punjab Police launched a series of raids on Thursday to apprehend criminals associated with Brar, according to official sources cited by news agency PTI. The special operation, which began at 7 am, is being conducted across all districts of the state. Several police teams, including senior officials, are involved in the operation.

Shubhdeep Singh Sidhu, also known as Sidhu Moose Wala, was fatally shot in Mansa district on May 29 last year, and Brar was identified as the main suspect in the case.

Satinderjeet Singh alias Goldy Brar, a native of Sri Muktsar Sahib in Punjab, went to Canada on a student visa in 2017 and is an active member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang.

Multiple reports indicate that Brar is currently residing in Canada. In May, Interpol-Ottawa’s Fugitive Apprehension Support Team added him to Canada’s list of the top 25 most wanted fugitives. Canada’s official release stated that Brar poses a risk to public safety, and he is the subject of an investigation by the Royal Canadian Mounted Police (RCMP) for serious allegations originating from India.

Brar faces charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, and illegal firearms supply, according to an earlier Interpol notice.

Tensions between India and Canada have been escalating since New Delhi snubbed Ottawa during the G20 summit over anti-India elements promoting secessionism in Justin Trudeau’s country. Following Canadian Prime Minister Trudeau’s claim of Indian involvement in the killing of Khalistani leader Hardeep Singh Nijjar in June, Canada’s foreign ministry expelled a senior Indian diplomat, and India retaliated by expelling a top Canadian official.

In another incident related to Canada, gangster Sukhdool Singh, who had fled from Punjab to Canada in 2017, was shot by unknown assailants in Winnipeg. Singh was believed to have joined pro-Khalistan forces.

Due to the heightened tensions, India suspended visa services for Canadian citizens, while Ottawa announced temporary adjustments to its staff presence in India to ensure the safety of diplomats in response to threats received on social media.

It is important to note that Goldy Brar is facing charges of murder, criminal conspiracy, and illegal firearms supply in Canada. He is currently in Canada, and the Punjab Police have launched raids across the state to apprehend individuals associated with him. The tension between India and Canada has escalated recently, leading to diplomatic actions between the two nations. The situation is ongoing, and further developments are expected.
