New Delhi [India], January 13 (ANI): Dense fog conditions continued in north India as cold wave continued its grip on Saturday. Dense to very dense fog was reported in isolated pockets of Punjab and East Uttar Pradesh at 5:30 am, the India Meterological Department (IMD) said.

Several flight operations were delayed at the Delhi airport due to low visibility amid fog.

“Moderate fog in isolated pockets over Rajasthan, West Uttar Pradesh,” the weather department added.

Meanwhile, the visibility in Punjab’s Amritsar, Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow and Varanasi came down to 25 metres.

“Visibility recorded (at 0530 hours IST of today, 13.01.2024) (<=500metres): Punjab: Amritsar-25, Patiala-500; Haryana-Delhi: Hissar-50, Palam (Delhi) & Safdarjung (Delhi)-200 each,” the IMD said.

“Uttar Pradesh: Lucknow & Varanasi(Babatpur)-25 each, Gorakhpur & Bahraich-200 each, Bareilly, Varanasi & Sultanpur-500 each; Bihar- Purnea & Gaya -50 each, Patna & Bhagalpur- 500 each; Madhya Pradesh: Gwalior-200; Gangetic West Bengal: Diamond Harbour- 50, Malda-500,” it added.

Agra and Gwalior recorded zero visibility at 8:30 am on Saturday, the IMD said.

“Visibility recorded (at 0830 hours IST of today): West UP: Agra-0; West MP: Gwalior-0; East UP: Bahraich & Gorakhpur-25 each, Prayagraj-50, Lucknow-200; Punjab: Bhatinda, Amritsar & Patiala-50 each; Delhi: Ridge-50, Palam-200; northwest Rajasthan: Ganganagar-50,” the weather office said.

On Friday, Delhi’s Palam Airport reported zero visibility amid very dense fog conditions.

In Delhi, the lowest Temperature of this season was recorded at Safdurjung at 8:30 am this morning at 3.6 degrees which is a deviation of 3.8 degrees from the normal Minimum Temperature of the season.

The IMD on Friday predicted dense to very dense fog conditions over North India during the next five days. It had also predicted that cold day to severe cold day wave conditions over the plains of Northwest India during the next three days and a reduction thereafter. Cold wave to severe cold wave conditions are likely over North India during the next two days, it added.
