Mumbai’s famous Lalbaugcha Raja mandal received over Rs 1.02 crore amount as donations in two days of Ganeshotsav. According to the Mandal, they received over Rs 60 lakh on the second day of the festival.

Ganpati idol also received an offering of 183.480 grams of gold and 622 grams of silver as a donation. Compared to the first day, the second day received more donations in cash.

Bollywood celebrities including Shah Rukh Khan, Kartik Aaryan, and Vicky Kaushal have sought blessings from Lord Ganesh at Lalbaugcha Raja in Mumbai.

Former Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray, Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot and several other politicians have also visited the Mandal.

Lalbaugcha Raja

Lalbaugcha Raja or ‘King of Lalbaug’, located in Putlabai Chawl, is the most visited Ganesh idol in Mumbai. Every year, lakhs of devotees throng the Lalbaugh market to visit the Lalbaugcha Raja.

The tradition here dates back to 1934 when the first idol was installed by the Lalbaug Sarvajanik Ganeshotsav Mandal following which it became an iconic symbol of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival in Mumbai.

The celebration at the Lalbaugcha Raja during Ganesh Chaturthi 2023 will mark 90 years of its commemoration.
