Orxa Energies, a Bengaluru-based EV startup, has recently launched its first electric bike in India, the Mantis. Priced at ₹3.6 lakh, the Mantis is the company’s foray into the electric performance bikes segment, and is aimed to challenge the premium Ultraviolette F77 electric bike.
The Orxa Mantis is equipped with India’s first liquid-cooled electric motor, making it a standout in its category. With a top speed of 135 km per hour and a range of 221 km on a single charge from its 8.9 kWh battery pack, the Mantis promises to be competitive in terms of performance and range.
The bike will be available in Bengaluru starting from April 2024, with plans to expand to other cities soon. Bookings for the Mantis have already begun on the company’s website, indicating strong interest in the market.
Featuring a sporty design and available in two color options, the Mantis includes a 5-inch TFT display with the company’s Linux-based OS. In terms of charging, the bike can reach 80% in 5 hours with the standard 1.3kW charger or in 2.5 hours with the optional 3.3kW charger. While the price of the 3.3kW charger has not been announced, it is expected to cost around ₹15,000 to ₹20,000.
Overall, the Orxa Mantis seems poised to make a mark in the electric bike segment in India, offering a compelling combination of performance, range, and innovative features. With its entry into the market, it will be interesting to see how the Mantis competes with other offerings in its category.
