India Witnesses 61% Increase in Women Applicants Ahead of Festive Season: Report

In a new report released on Monday, India has seen a significant 61% increase in women applicants during the July-September period this year compared to the previous year, signaling a growing demand for women professionals across industries. Leading jobs and professional networking platform apna.co shared insights on the changing job market landscape and the surge in women applicants.

The report suggests that the increase in women applicants is largely driven by heightened activity in sectors like e-commerce, retail, and hospitality during the festive season. Companies in these sectors, including Bajaj, Axis Bank, Paytm, Flipkart, and Reliance, actively participated in the job market, offering attractive incentives to secure top talent.

The top five job categories that experienced significant transformation from 2022 to 2023 were telecalling, accounts, business development, marketing, and delivery. This indicates a shift in job seeker preferences and a need for professionals in these areas.

“We’ve observed a significant rise in women applicants and changing job seeker preferences over the past year. Looking ahead, we anticipate further transformations in the employment landscape as we continue to empower professionals and bridge the gap between job seekers and employers,” commented Nirmit Parikh, Founder and CEO of apna.co.

Furthermore, the report highlighted that over 1.2 lakh job openings were recorded in August and September 2023 across major Indian cities, reflecting a surge in hiring demand ahead of the festive season. City-wise demand demonstrated unique patterns, with Delhi showing a preference for roles in Sales & Marketing, Customer Support & Sales, and Accounting Technicians. On the other hand, Mumbai displayed high demand for Finance & HR, Sales & Marketing, and Business Development roles.

This data provides valuable insights into the job market landscape in India and emphasizes the changing dynamics during the festive season. With the increased focus on women professionals and the demand for specific job categories, it is expected that the employment landscape will continue to evolve in the coming years. apna.co remains committed to empowering professionals and facilitating connections between job seekers and employers.
