Title: Star Players Retained as Women’s Premier League Franchises Finalize Teams for 2024 Season

New Delhi – In an unsurprising turn of events, Women’s Premier League (WPL) franchises have retained their marquee players for the upcoming 2024 season. Mumbai Indians’ Harmanpreet Kaur, Delhi Capital’s Meg Lanning, and Royal Challengers Bangalore’s Smriti Mandhana are among the notable names that will continue playing for their respective teams, the league announced on Thursday.

The retention window for the five franchises came to a close on October 15. Out of the 60 players retained, including 21 overseas cricketers, 29 players were released from their existing squads.

Meanwhile, the Delhi-based franchise, which finished as runners-up in the first edition, has retained a total of 15 players, including five overseas players.
